Youth Jazz Workshop

This is a day-long ‘Youth Jazz Workshop’ on Sunday 5th November at the Christopher Whitehead Language College in Worcester.

WYJO Musical Director Ian Hattersley said: “Members of WYJO have been invited to support Worcestershire Youth Music as they provide this exciting opportunity for young, budding jazz musicians to take part in a free jazz workshop all about jazz and musical expression.”

Presented as a fantastic musical jazz opportunity, this day-long event will take the form of instrumental section rehearsals, workshops and full-band rehearsals using experienced jazz musicians which benefits the musicians as they play alongside them and some of the county’s best youth players, before the day concludes with a concert performed to invited guests.

“It’s hoped that this workshop will present the catalyst to start a new and exciting Jazz Orchestra that will supply an intermediate step for musicians before full membership of WYJO, the county’s top youth jazz group in Worcestershire.”

This free event is open to pupils from schools throughout Worcestershire and who have attained a grade 4 standard or above.

Musicians taking part should arrive at 9:30am armed with instuments and packed lunch.  The day will end with a performance at 4:00pm
